Introducing Cognis Migrations: AI-powered migration as a practice area
Migratio is the platform. Cognis Migrations is the engineering team that ships it. What we do, who we do it for, and what's next.
Today we're formally introducing Cognis Migrations, the third practice area within Cognis Group — joining our consulting and AI agents arms. Cognis Migrations builds and operates Migratio, the migration platform for banks, ministries, and regulated enterprises.
Why a third practice area
Cognis Group started in 2023 as an advisory firm. Our consultants were repeatedly hired to plan, observe, or audit enterprise migrations across banking, tax, telco, and government. Three years in, we'd built the same migration architecture five times for five different customers, and each time the same bug class destroyed the same sub-project.
By mid-2025, we'd developed enough institutional knowledge — and enough internal tooling — that we decided to productize it. Migratio is the result. Cognis Migrations is the team that ships, supports, and continues to build it.
What Cognis Migrations does
- ●Operates Migratio as a managed platform on sovereign Nigerian infrastructure (Hetzner Frankfurt, Cloudflare edge, Authentik SSO)
- ●Provides implementation services: discovery, connector building, cutover war-room support, post-cutover audit pack preparation
- ●Maintains the agent fleet: Schema Mapper, Naming Library, Reconciliation, Exception Triage, Orchestrator
- ●Publishes case studies, engineering deep-dives, and compliance breakdowns from real cutovers
Who Cognis Migrations is for
Three customer segments, in this order:
- ●Nigerian banks migrating between core banking systems, or migrating from legacy Flexcube / T24 / Finacle to cloud-native cores
- ●Federal and state ministries migrating tax, customs, identity, or licensing systems — particularly between TaxPro Max, Rev360, TIN Validation, and the new Tax ID platform
- ●Regulated enterprises in adjacent African markets (Ghana, Kenya, South Africa) facing similar regulator-grade audit and reconciliation requirements
What's next
Phase 1 ships data migration. The platform is live with our reference customer; we're onboarding three additional banks through Q2 and Q3 2026. Phase 2 (document migration — FileNet / SharePoint / SAP DMS / Box) ships Q3 2026. Phase 3 (domain migration — email, identity, DNS, tenant-level systems) ships Q1 2027.
